EnergyScope

From the publisher website or publicity

A Web-based energy desktop application for data navigation, charting and analysis.

Designed to service the full spectrum of energy trading markets (Coal, Electricity, Emissions, Gas, Oil and Petrochemicals), EnergyScope is a robust and flexible desktop application for the navigation and charting of energy market data and data retrieval into Microsoft® Excel spreadsheets.

Catering to the busy energy analyst or trader, EnergyScope's user-friendly interface provides rapid access to libraries of stored analysis, making queries to the central FAME Time Series Database(s) hosted and maintained by SunGard. EnergyScope also allows for the rapid and easy creation of new charts and reports. A high speed of data access is ensured by the use of compact data formats and intelligent caching.

EnergyScope allows users to navigate and select data using pre-defined views. For example, a front-office trader may have the ability browse the full spectrum of data classes, while a mid-office manager may be limited strictly to the forward curves.

EnergyScope also includes a suite of commonly required "pre-canned" technical studies, energy and time-series functions. Built-in analytical features include cross-commodity analysis (such as heat rate and spark spread calculations), and the ability to compare the prices of different liquid, gaseous and solid fuels on a consistent basis.

With EnergyScope's charting and analysis tools, traders, analysts and managers throughout the company have access to proprietary forward curve data together with market prices and fundamental data:

*The Forward Curve Manager component allows the user to define curve structures that mimic all requisite structures found in the energy market.
*The Forward Curve Calendar allows users to specify quoting/non-quoting days and country/commodity specific, peak/off-peak hours.
*A graphical formula builder allows users to define their own dynamic formulas using a comprehensive set of time-intelligent analytical functions. Formulas can even be saved and assigned to specific users or groups (using passPoint).
*Additionally, an Excel Add-in tool makes the full range of EnergyScope data and manipulation functions available within Microsoft Excel spreadsheets. Data links are easy to set up, and saved spreadsheets can be automatically updated.
*As part of an EnergyServer installation, EnergyScope provides a single desktop data retrieval tool for information from both EnergyServer databases and other internal systems, all presented in a single format with consistent data navigation.
