From the publisher website or publicity Anite Public Sector's Pericles solution for Revenues & Benefits is a single application for the collection of local taxes and the administration of benefits in England and Wales. There are separate modules, which you can implement at your own pace, for Business Rates, Council Tax and Benefits (encompassing both Housing Benefits and Council Tax Benefits). The single database provides a common source of information on each person and property. This saves rekeying, reduces inconsistencies and consolidates information about citizens - helping you to deliver joined up services. Designed for Microsoft's Windows® platform, Pericles offers an open, distributed computing environment with the best connectivity and interoperability in the marketplace, as well as the best price/performance ratios. Pericles is EMU compliant, easy to maintain, and scaleable to suit every size of local authority. Co-ordinated, efficient and responsive Pericles improves co-ordination and efficiency in the back office, giving you the platform to provide citizen-focused, responsive and accessible services in the front office. Pericles integrates easily with other applications such as Microsoft Office, with tools and technologies such as e-mail, Document Management and workflow, and with information held on intranets or the Internet. The Pericles process wizard leads users in easy steps through key tasks such as making a benefits assessment or setting up an arrangement or direct debit. This aids productivity and efficiency and reduces training needs. Pericles has its own integral benefits overpayments module, which provides Benefits departments with complete control over the recovery of overpayments right up to court stage. The native interface to Pericles, via Microsoft's Internet Explorer Web browser, greatly simplifies system maintenance and enables access from a wide range of devices including internet terminals, kiosks and TV set top boxes. This provides unprecedented flexibility - secure access both within the authority and across partners and collaborating organisations, and the potential for direct citizen access to services. Loaded onto a lightweight, pocket-sized, latest generation Personal Digital Assistant (PDA), it provides key office tools including email, calendar, Microsoft Word and Excel, plus intelligent applets drawing on property and client information held by Pericles to guide mobile workers through tasks such as inspections and visits. Online validation of bank details By the end of 2005, new BACS rules will make it compulsory to validate bank details at the point they are first entered. Within Pericles, fast online validation of bank details is provided via an optional interface to BANK WIZARD™, Europe's leading bank validation system from Eiger systems. Enhanced job scheduling Pericles provides as standard the ability to control scheduling and running of batch jobs on a daily basis.
