Automated test software has been rolled out across the the insurance company, Admiral Group. The goal is to test functionality upgrades and bug fixes.

The software from Compuware can be used to test multiple applications. As the applications are across four brands they need to work in diverse environments.

Admiral brands include Diamond, Admiral, elephant.co.uk and Bell Direct.

Although covering differing companies the testing is all conducted through a "model office". This was set up 2 years to ago to co-ordinate all the groups IT projects.

Each brand is allocated a PC. The tool automates accessing insurance policies from the backend AS/400 based Insure 90 insurance package.

Previously, testing was manually based , with people from the businesses required to enter insurance information into the software.

Using QARun, means that staff are not called away from selling insurance.

Whether Admiral manage to capture any defects using the new tool is another matter altogether.
