Oracle seems to be on a roll at the moment. First it wins an important court ruling and then it meets revenues forcasts for the quarter.
The ruling regarded Oracles's pursuit of rival PeopleSoft. Oracle had lodged an appeal against the Department of Justice.
The revenues figure was in spite of a slowing corporate spending environment. Sales of new software applications licences dropped 36%. Database licences though increased 18%.
Chief Financial Officer Harry You denied the slump had anything to do with PeopleSoft. Instead it was "one-off aberration".

However the attack on PeopleSoft had cost Oracle $29m in the last quarter. The target company however blamed its disappointing figures on the takeover bid.
