Mobile Conference Calls

Orange is to launch a service for conference calls from a mobile. Using its "push-to-talk" service, customers will be able to connect up to 10 other users. The system underwent 9 months of trials, including with NHS Lothian.

Samsung and 4G

Barely has 3G started and Samsung is trying to get a head start on 4G. A private 2-day forum in South Korea, for academics, standards bodies, telecom equipment makers and carriers is hosted by Samsung. The end of the decade is likely to see a standard set. Transmission speeds are estimated at 100mbps moving and 1gbps stationary.
