Remote collaboration between geographically separated teams is being enhanced in the IBM Rational suite of development teams.

The Atlantic suite of tools is based around the ClearCase client. Additionally elements of the Eclipse range of products. Some of the Eclipse range in particular the Integrated Development Environment, (IDE) are open source.

IBM wants the Eclipse range to be the integration framework for the technology base of the Rational family of software.

The tools will offer support for Webshpere and Java based products. IBM chose not to disclose much about the open source nature of some of the tools.
