BIO Lobbying on SOX Again

EntreMed CEO and Biotechnology Industry Organisation (BIO) representative, James Burns, is to testify before the House Committee on Small Business about the effects of Sarbanes-Oxley.

The hearing centres on "Sarbanes-Oxley Section 404: What is the Proper Balance Between Investor Protection and Capital Formation for Smaller Public Companies?"

Burns wil focus on the infamous Section 404, claiming it imposes a one-size-fits-all approach to internal controls.

BIO is seeking regulatory reform through the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) rather than a legislative fix.

The Biotechnology industry is one of many hi-tech sectors seeking changes to the corporate governance law.
