CA Enters Self-Healing Fray

CA is to use its acquisition of Control-F1 to add self-healing capabilities to its Unicenter systems management products.

Control F-1 produces software that can automatically prevent, detect and repair end-user computer problems before they disrupt the wider IT system.

Lower IT costs will ideally be the result of a drive to automate areas of IT management and remove repetitive manual tasks.

As well as incorporating them into Unicenter, CA aims to sell Control F-1s products separately.

CA's MDB database repository will have the self-healing software incorporated into it. MDB holds information about the IT instructure.

CA is not alone in developing self-healing capabilities. IBM, Microsoft, BMC and HP are all pursuing the technology.
