Marketron International has completed its SAS-70 Type II Certification for 2005. The move is widely seen as excellent preparation for attaining Sarbanes-Oxley compliance.

The certification follows an audit of its application hosting service by an independent accounting firm. The company asserts that its subscribers of its hosting platform can rely on a reliable and secure operating environment.

SAS-70 is an internationally recognized auditing standard developed by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). A SAS-70 Type II audit analyzes a hosting service organization's controls over the information technology and processes that serve its clients.

Sarbanes-Oxley compliance might also be easier to obtain for the clients of Marketron as public companies require hosting providers to have such audit inspections. This is because Sarbanes-Oxley mandates can encompass the internal controls of suppliers.
