Database giant, Oracle has acquired Thor Technologies and OctetString to strengthen its identity management offering.
Thor Technologies sells cross-platform provisioning solutions. Their flagship product Thor Xellerate will now be called Oracle Xellerate Identity Provisioning.
Xellerate users can manage user-access rights and privileges throughout the lifecycle and across diverse IT environments including platforms, systems, applications and physical assets.
Streamlined operations, increased security, improved business responsiveness, reduced costs and enhanced regulatory compliance are all claimed as benefits.
Oracle's acquisition of Thor and OctetString is a good move, said Mike Neuenschwander, vice president and research director, Burton Group. "These acquisitions coupled with Oracle's unique application top down approach to Identity Management will send ripples through the industry.["]
OctetString's flagship, OctetString Virtual Directory Engine will be renamed Oracle Virtual Directory. The software allows organizations to connect applications to multiple sources of user identity within the enterprise.
The renamed products will be available from Oracle by the end of the year.
