Royal Dutch Shell has oppointed, Jorma Ollila, the ex-chief executive of Nokia.

The appointment is effective as of June 2006.

During his 13 years at the Finnish handset manufacturer, Ollila turned Nokia into an international mobile powerhouse.

Shell has certainly been at the centre of the revolution in corporate governance in recent years.

The company is still trying to put a massive scandal involving restatement of energy reserves last year.

Until this month, the company had a dual company structure straddling the UK and Dutch capital markets.
