Sir Tom McKillop has joined the board of Royal Bank of Scotland, in a move widely seen as a precursor to becoming Chairman.

He joins as deputy chairman, he comes from the chairmanship of AstraZeneca. Should he become chairman, he will replace Sir George Mathewson.
