Computer Associates, which has been plagued by accounting problems, has appointed, Marc Loupe as the new head of internal audit and senior vice president.

He will report to the Audit and Compliance Committee of CA's Board of Directors and to Kenneth V. Handal, executive vice president, corporate secretary and general counsel.

He will be responsible for all CA's internal audit and risk management functions. This includes "assessing the adequacy of the internal controls" associated with financial, operational and information technology activities.

(Clearly this means section 404 of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act).

Previously Mr Loupe had been finance VP at Sun Microsystems for their product groups. He also led Sun's SOX compliance effort.
