Phishing Growth Continues Unabated

Postini, an email security vendor is reporting that the number of phishing attempts rose in June. However the number of infected emails which are used to tempt people to the fake sites, dropped. June saw a 71% increase over May to 16.6m phishing attempts. Phishing attempts will continue to plague enterprise users for the foreseeable future, said Andrew Lochart, senior director of marketing at Postini. "As long as phishing remains a threat to businesses and their employees, it is imperative that businesses implement strong spam and phishing defenses."
