Gartner has ranked IBM number 1 in the enterprise management market, based on license revenue for 2004.

Gartner ranked IBM as the top vendor overall, and also ranked IBM as the leader across enterprise management market categories including Availability & Performance Management, Configuration Management, Database Management, Job Scheduling, and Network Management, and a general category that includes IBM Print Management offerings.

Good news also for IBM is that the market grew by 11.4% to $6.2bn in 2004.

Enterprise systems management, and IBM Tivoli's move towards IT service management, are essential areas for on demand business, said Al Zollar, general manager, IBM Tivoli software. "We consider Tivoli's continued ranking as the number one enterprise management vendor by Gartner as a testament to our continued focus on technology innovation and dedication to customers' needs for end-to-end enterprise management solutions and services."
