Spirent Communications and Imperfect Networks have announced a collaboration to combine Spirents Avalanche with Imperfect's ThreatEx. The enterprise security testing market is the target.

Organisations will be able to test at the enterprise level, that security is performing as it should.

ThreatEx verifies that Intrusion detection (IDS) and intrusion prevention (IPS0 capabilities can defend against known and unknown attacks. The simulated attacks are based on previous attack profiles.

Using ThreatEx in conjunction with Avalanche, the IDS or IPS can test that attacks are stopped whilst still allowing real-user traffic through.

Because we know security is a moving target, we can deliver testing products and services that help Enterprises protect, buy, build, and monitor their defenses against even the most recent attacks, said Alan Newman, director of marketing -- Enterprise Marketing and Avalanche Product Line, Spirent Communications. "This partnership provides wide-ranging customer benefits to the enterprise market."
