Spirent Communications has launched a new line of "intelligent handheld field test units".
The line, Tech-X includes ADSL 2/2+, ATM, IP and copper feature sets.
The market for the units is service providers to install and troubleshoot next generation broadband services, increase service efficiency.
Automated and integrated fault diagnosis is included.
As the broadband market continues to evolve, service providers are faced with the challenge of balancing the need to extend the speed and reach of their DSL services with the complexities of installing and troubleshooting these new services, said Jim McRae, managing director of Spirent's Field Test unit. "Spirent is responding to the market demand by helping to fill the gaps in today's next generation broadband testing environment with one of the first solutions to combine copper, xDSL, IP, and ADSL 2/2+ features and expert diagnostics on a single platform. We are helping to further the migration of traditional voice field technicians to support these broadband services."
The new units will leverage Spirents existing Tech-X platform.
