Accessing the web via mobile devices may become easier due to an initiative from the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C).
The Mobile Web Initiative (MWI) aims to make accessing the web from a mobile as easy as from a desktop.
Initially the targets are best practices and mobile device descriptions.
Two groups are to be set up: the Mobile Web Best Practices Working Group and the Device Description Working Group.
France Telecom, HP, MobileAware, Segala M Test, Vodafone and Volantis have become founding sponsors of the MWI.
