Novell Zenworks Asset Management is as suite of integrated tools, with discovery, inventory, licence management, software usage analysis and trend analysis features.

With software, systems information and assets can be tracked enterprise-wide. Two advantages are the ability to control spending and ensure compliance with software licences and government regulations.

The engine-room of the software are tools to discover, identify and report hardware assets within the enterprise. Additionally the compliance component allows the organisation to compare inventory, purchase and licence records.

Desktops, laptops, servers, routers, switches and hubs can all be tracked and reported on by Zenworks. The software running on them can be tracked as well.

IT asset management is a growth area for software vendors. The increasing complexity and automation of corporate IT infrastructure, requires software just to keep track for good IT governance.

Compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley section 404 (internal controls), places a large burden on companies that heavily automate their financial reporting.
