Windows 2003 SP1 Server Problems

Google

Web www.software-risk.co.uk

Major server applications will fail to operate correctly, if Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1 (SP1) is installed. Computer Associates and Citrix server products are affected in particular.

The admission from Microsoft follows on from the debacle last year of SP2 for Windows XP. The current deficiencies are not as severe as those.

When SP1 is installed, default settings are changed for the affected packages. Server configurations may have to be amended to handle new tools and features built into SP1.

Microsoft also says that the problem affects their own server products.

Products affected include:-

 *HP InsightManager
 *Kerio Server Firewall 1.0
 *NetIQ Group Policy Administrator 2.0
 *AppManager 6.0

Servers might have to change configuration. Microsoft cite the following in a warning:-

*Internet security and Acceleration (ISA) Server 2004
 *Systems Management Server (SMS) 2003.

The Microsoft website has details of fixes for the problems.
