Dual-core Intel PCs are now on sale from Dell, even though the technology has just been released.

According to Interl the market for the systems are "computer hobbyists and entertainment enthusiasts". The claimed higher processing power would enable more demanding applications and multi-tasking.

The first dual-core processing platform from Intel, includes a Pentium Extreme Edition 840 and the Intel 955X Express Chipset. Clock speed is 3.2GHz

“This platform empowers computer users to take advantage of high-definition video, high-quality sound and 3D visualisation for their audio, video, digital design and gaming tasks,” according to Don MacDonald, vice-president of Intel’s digital home group.

“It enables increased capabilities and the power for people to do more with their computers, which will change how people use computing power inside and outside their homes.” continued McDonald.
