Johnny Hallyday has lost the latest round in his battle to gain control of his back catalogue.

Hallyday, the "French Elvis" has, a back catologue going back four decades and has over 1,000 songs.

Universal Music Group is determined to keep hold of it. The wider music industry, is a close viewer. Already beset by Internet piracy, they do not want to see a precedent for giving artists more control.

The decision by an appeals court, overturns a lower courts order to grant Hallyday control of the master tapes.
