Web www.software-risk.co.uk

Planned legal action by Sybase against a company which found vulnerabilities in it's enterprise database product, have been dropped.

Sybase's Adaptive Server Enterprise database was found to have two security vulnerabilities.

The finders, UK based Next Generation Security Software, had planned to publicise the holes. Sybase responded with the threat of legal action.

Sybase's concerns centred on customers becoming targets if the the vulnerabilities were published.

The database vendor has subsequently issued patches for the problem. Both sides have now agreed on a satisfactory advisory.
