The UK's Highways Agency has awarded a contract for management of its communications services to Computacenter.
Scope of the project encompasses management of the command, control and communicaion services, used to keep Britain's highways maintained.
Computacenter is working in conjunction with Chippenham, Wiltshire based Vivista, a subsidiary of Sungard. Value of the 5 year deal is £8m.
Seven new control centres are being built by the Highways Agency. Computacenter and Vivista will look after the IT infrastructure.
Computacenter is supplying the hardware and configuration side of things. Vivista is handling the command and control software.
