Versions of open source StarOffice and Java Desktop have been released by Sun Microsystems for beta testing.

StarOffice 8 apparently offers improved Linux enhanced interoperability with great rival Microsoft Office. Java Desktop 3 has improved device support and again, interoperability.

StarOffice 8 can be downloaded here. StarOffice 8, in its entirety is expected late in 2005.

Java Desktop 3 could be seen by developers at the LinuxWorld conference in Boston, Massachusstts.
