Google

Web www.software-risk.co.uk

A man has been charged regarding an alleged attempt to hack into the Disasters Emergency Committee website. The site had been extremely high profile due to the Tsunami disaster.

The man, Daniel James Cuthbert, 28, of Whitechapel, East London was charged under the Computer Misuse Act. He is accused of an "unauthorised access" on 31/12/04 to the site. He is due to appear at Horseferry Magistrates Court next Thursday.

Unauthorised access is covered by Section One of the Act. Cuthbert faces up to six months imprisonment. No money was stolen.

The DEC has however had to issue a statement reassuring the public that the site is a safe way to donate money for Tsunami aid.
